Her process starts with thorough research around themes of human behavior and fantasy, specifically through the lens of her experience as an immigrant woman. Each piece is designed for character narratives she writes herself, according to how they each fit into the larger stories around the collection. She aims to confront and address her own fears and curiosities through clothing, as well as build immersive worlds that go skin deep.
Santos believes that clothing exists to inform not just to style – that each garment one acquires should be a part of one’s uniform and story, unraveling one’s own layers of identity.
